Problem: The chief Technical Officer of PaqTech was dismayed to see an error message "Failure reading Drive C:" when he turned on his PC. The operating system wouldn't load, and by using hard disk utilities, he discovered several bad sectors in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder. But without Windows running, he couldn't use the standard backup programs to selectively restore files. Reinstalling the operating system was a time-consuming option, and meant losing data and reconfiguring his desktop.
Solution: Fortunately, PaqTech uses CMS. The Network Administrator had used it to backup key system files and the registry. Now, simply by rebooting his PC from and selecting a pre-configured network boot menu entry, he was able to restore his damaged files. Within minutes, he had Windows up and running --Without losing data or reconfiguring.
