If 3Com DABS does everything you need, you may not need to upgrade to CDS. However, I should highlight some the features that might make CDS appealing to others.
-First, CDS will still allow you to do everything you described above.
-Secondly, the 3Com DynamicAcces Boot Services (DABS) is an outdated, unsupported, and discontinued product.
-3Com DABS has not been updated in over 5 years. There are many bugs lying around.
-3Com DABS does not support PXE booting over routed network subnets.
-3Com DABS will not install Windows Vista (Longhorn) and 64-bit versions of Windows.
With CDS you get:
-A built-in PXE on Disk Generator. If your client PC does not have on-board PXE, you can make a PXE boot floppy.
-Lightweight DHCP service. Now you can perform PXE-based tasks in DHCP-less environments.
-Seamless integration with Ghost. Build-it wizard for setting up Ghost deployments
-WinPE is default OS for unattended scripted and Ghost-based installations.
-Windows installations are much faster using WinPE instead of DOS because disk partitioning and quick formatting is done in one step without having to reboot. Formatting a large drive using DOS will negatively impact your OS deployment time.
-WinPE auto-probes and loads the appropriate video and NIC driver for the client PC.
-WinPE uses native XP/2003 network drivers by default. Plus you can use DRVINST utility to easily add new drivers to the WinPE boot image.
-The Ghost 32-bit client (ghost32.exe) also uses native XP/2003 network drivers by default so it
