What is Argon Client Deployment Services?
See http://www.ArgonTechnology.com/cds

What is WinPE?
See http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/wi … _over.mspx

What are the clients requirement for using CDS?
CDS clients require a minimum of 256 MB RAM plus the hardware requirements run the given Windows OS.  Clients need a PXE supported network adapter.  If the adapter does not have a built-in ROM, CDS offers a PXE boot floppy that supports most adapters.

Which ports does the CDS server uses?
CDS uses the following ports:
-    UDP 67
-    UDP 68
-    UDP 69
-    UDP 4011

The CDS Boot Server is not responding to my clients PXE requests.  What am I missing?
Make sure that your CDS server's firewall is allowing DHCP, PXE, and TFTP packets to go through.  For information on setting the Windows Firewall to not block the server ports, see Installing with Windows Firewall in the CDS Getting Started guide.
If CDS is installed on multi-home server, verify that the Boot Server PXE and TFTP components are bind to the correct IP address. If the CDS server and client reside on separate subnets make sure that your DHCP Relay agent or Cisco IP helper is forwarding DHCP requests to the CDS server.

Does CDS require a DHCP server?
Yes, the nature of the PXE framework mandates a DHCP server.  However, the CDS PXE server can be configured to function as a DHCP server for PXE client in the absence of a full-fledge DHCP server.

What is maximum number of clients that CDS can service simultaneously? In theory, CDS can support over 50 clients simultaneously; however, in practice, network bandwidth will dictate the optimal maximum.

Can I use the 16-bit Ghost client (ghost.exe) for Ghost deployments?
The 16 bit Ghost application can be used in a DOS boot image.  For better performance we recommend using Ghost32 and WinPE.

Can I join a GhostCast (multi-cast) session using the 32-bit Ghost client?
Yes, Ghost32.exe can participate in GhostCast sessions.

What tool is used for disk partitioning?
CDS uses the standard Microsoft Diskpart utility for disk partitioning?

How do I determine if my client's network adapter is supported by CDS?
If your network adapter is supported by Windows 2000/XP by default then it should be supported by CDS out of the box.  In cases where your network adapter is not supported, you can use the DRVINST utility to add your NIC driver to the WinPE image.

Does CDS support creating NTFS partitions on the client?
Yes, WinPE can create and format an NTFS partition.
